It started in a spare bedroom.

15 years ago, Paul Hamilton was running Halo from his mother-in-law's spare bedroom. As the business grew, he needed somewhere to build a team. Finding that first office was an important step towards the company Halo has become.

Today, Halo is a privately owned, self-funded British software company working with more than 5,000 organisations in over 100 countries.

We know what it takes to build a business from the ground up. With Halo Labs, we're opening up our space, experience and network to help other founders do the same.

How Halo Labs works

Halo Labs offers support tiers for businesses at different stages, with help and guidance provided throughout. These are split into three levels of involvement, from workspace and mentoring to potential commercial partnerships.

Bronze

  • Free workspace for up to 5 people at the Halo Building in Ipswich, with Wi-Fi and access to meeting rooms and event space.
  • Access to Halo's software to help you manage and grow your business, without the usual licensing costs.
  • Monthly catch-ups to discuss progress, challenges and next steps.

Silver

  • Tailored support to help your business take the next step.
  • Practical help from Halo's teams, including marketing, sales, finance, development and commercial expertise, depending on availability.
  • Introductions through Halo's wider business network.
  • Access to relevant events and opportunities.
  • Monthly progress reviews.
  • A monthly mentoring session with Paul Hamilton, Halo's CEO and founder.

Gold

  • For businesses where there is an opportunity to work more closely together.
  • Halo may explore investment, joint ventures or other commercial partnerships, including potential brand licensing arrangements.
  • These opportunities are considered individually, based on the business and what makes sense for both sides. Progression to Gold and any commercial arrangement are not guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it cost anything?

No. Halo Labs is free to join. We're opening up our space and sharing what we've learned from building Halo to help other businesses grow.

Can any business apply?

We're open to businesses at different stages, from early ideas to those already up and running. We're interested in the people behind them, their ambitions and where we think Halo can help.

Do I need to work from the Halo Building?

You don't need to be here every day, but we'd encourage you to make the most of the space and the people around you. We can discuss what works best for your business.

How long can I stay?

The minimum term is 12 months, then it rolls on monthly after that. We'll review your progress together along the way and decide what makes sense as your business develops.

How are the Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers decided?

We'll review your application and offer the level of support we feel is most suitable. As your business grows, we can explore further opportunities and review your tier together.

How quickly will I hear back?

We aim to respond to applications within 10 working days. If we'd like to take things further, we'll arrange a conversation to learn more about you and your business.
