You may configure specific Ticket Types and Sources to be logged to the "HistoricalTicketVolumes" table.</p><p><br></p><p>This will run a query every hour to count the number of Tickets logged for the configured Ticket Types and Sources, and record this as a row in the table. This is run for the previous hour, each hour when enabled. For example you could predict the next 7 days of inbound Tickets for each hour, or you could predict the next 12 months of inbound Tickets by each month.</p><p><br></p><p>If using the <a href="https://usehalo.com/haloitsm/guides/2584/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Nixtla TimeGPT</strong></a> integration, you may augment your historical data with "Events" (exogenous data). An Event is a period of time marked as something that would influence the inbound volume, for example a public holiday, or marketing drive. This can be marked against your historical data, and added for the future so the model can take the previous, historical data into account for an event which is going to happen in the horizon of the forecast. Configuring a forecast.</span></strong></p><p><br></p><p>We can then select which "Model to use" to create the forecast.</p><p id="isPasted"><br></p><ul><li><strong>Moving Average:</strong> Uses the average of recent values to smooth and forecast.</li><li><strong>Linear Regression:</strong> Projects a straight-line trend forward from past data.</li><li><strong>Simple Exponential Smoothing:</strong> Forecasts with more weight on recent values to follow trends.</li><li><strong>timegpt-1/timegpt-1-long-horizon:</strong> Requires configuration of the <a href="https://usehalo.com/haloitsm/guides/2584/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Nixtla TimeGPT</strong></a> integration. Use timegpt-1-long-horizon for forecasting if you want to predict more than one seasonal period given the frequency of your data.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Next, we can set the configuration of that model. This will differ slightly if using an integration method. Next to the results, you can see the date and time the forecast was last ran. </p><p><br></p><p id="isPasted"><strong><em>Note: Forecasts will not run every time a Report runs. They automatically run once for each new period based on the Forecast frequency, e.g. a monthly forecast will run once per month at the start of a new month, and every other time the Report is run it will use the stored Forecast output data.
